Come Dance with Me in Ireland - Pilgrimage to Yeats Country

Sunday, March 4, 2018 @ 12:00AMSun, Mar 4, 2018 @ 12:00AM

Patrick Ball at Vagabond Blues, 642 S Alaska St, Palmer, Alaska

Harpist and Storyteller Patrick Ball returns with his new show  Come Dance with Me in Ireland - Pilgrimage to Yeats Country A musical and dramatic performance based on the life and works of  William Butler Yeats Join Celtic harper and storyteller Patrick Ball for a harp-filled, dramatic performance based on the life and works of Ireland’s greatest poet, William Butler Yeats. Come Dance with Me In Ireland will be presented on March 3rd at the Anchorage Museum Auditorium at 7:30 pm  A second show will be presented at Vagabond Blues at 6 PM on March 4th. Tickets are $25.00 and available through Centertix. In the spring of 2016, Patrick was awarded a Visiting Fellowship by the Moore Institute at the National University of Ireland, Galway to study the life and works of Ireland’s greatest poet, William Butler Yeats. Patrick spent a commendable amount of time in the Archives and Special Collections. But, if he was forced to be truthful, he would have to admit that he spent a great deal more time in the pubs of Galway and rambling around Yeats Country. He likes to think that this performance has the savor of all these influences.  A Nobel Prize winner, Yeats(1865–1939) was an Irish poet and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. A pillar of both the Irish and British literary establishments, he helped to found the Abbey Theatre, and in his later years served as an Irish Senator for two terms. Yeats was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival.  Patrick tours extensively throughout Europe, the United States and Canada, is considered one of the premier Celtic harpers and storytellers in the world today, and has recorded nine instrumental and three spoken word albums which have sold well over one-half million copies collectively and earned national awards in both the music and spoken word categories.   To hear examples of Patrick’s extraordinary brass strung harp go to  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMMPPTOMlPI .
